How to lose “love-handles”

The Winshield wiper is an excellent exercise I love to put right in middle of my core routine because of its tortuousness; to prevent hip injury it’s best to perform this exercise slowly without rushing to the end.

I’ve done Windshield Wipers while laying on the floor, with and without a medicine ball clutched between my feet, but never have I ever torched my abs and core muscles as much as when performing the exercise suspended in the air.

I saw a guy doing this exercise at my gym a while back, and I finally got up the balls to try it.

Holy cow!! This exercise is killer!

Brief description of the benefits:

The windshield wiper exercise is quite unique. It adds several components to a core exercise that crunches and leg raises fail to do. It incorporates static contractions, with a component of rotation and some lateral flexion. Couple that with the role of gravity and an angle that can be unfamiliar to some, and a sense of balance and kinesthetic spatial awareness, and you have a whole new animal. It can add core strength, it can add rotational power, it’s a whole new challenge, it helps with kicking and scissor takedowns, and last but not least it can help strengthen the back stabilizers for other more difficult exercises.

If you have decent upper body and core strength, give it a try. It will be difficult and awkward at first, and it takes time to practice proper technique, but this exercise would make a solid addition to any gym ab routine.

Love to hear your strategy for flattening your stomach and seeing the the abs..Please share your thoughts, comments and questions
